Midland Grand Dining Room

King's Cross, London

Sir Gilbert Scott's 1873 grand restaurant gets a new look by Hugo Toro.

The beautiful Grade II Listed interiors of this magnificent dining room have been impeccably restored by Hugo Toro. The new design features new furnishings, art and light fittings.

The lighting installation is comprised by a combination of discreet architectural details - mainly to highlight historical features such as the gilded cornices, columns and panels, and a comprehensive set of decorative lighting elements that provide the majority of the ambient lighting. The warm and soft ambiance in the room is achieved by utilising a specific colour temperature that works both during the daytime and after dark.

The adjacent Gothic Bar was also part of the renovation project and the lighting is focuses at low level, as the ornate ceiling had to be kept intact.
