Kengo Kuma & Associates designs the most beautiful Student Residences in Europe.
Light IQ and KKA have collaborated on this beautiful academic residential project, in the heart of Geneva. The building features a variety of rooms and common spaces, including a library, cafeteria, supermarket and three rooftops.
The lighting design was developed in parallel with the interior architecture. The aim was to conceal any light sources as much as possible and ensure that all spaces have adequate lighting levels throughout. This resulted in a minimal palette of light fixtures, which also included the bedrooms and common living spaces. A consistent warm colour temperature of 2700K was introduced throughout all indoor spaces, providing a visually comfortable ambiance for the residents and visitors. This warm glow is also very noticeable, as seen from the exterior of the building. KKA wanted to emphasises the warmth of the materials (primarily wood) along the dramatic circulation route that is beautifully carved around the building complex.
