Kengo Kuma & Associates designs a spectacular multi-level town house in the heart of Tokyo.
This beautiful residence sits next to Yoyogi park, one of the most exclusive areas in Tokyo. The house consists of six floors including a multi-storey basement with a state-of-the-art games room and a fully mechanised car park.
The lighting installation integrates seamlessly with the minimal and pure architecture of KKA; soft layers of architectural lighting provide most of the general ambient light, whilst discreet accents highlight the art collection and selected pieces of furniture.
The decorative lighting elements were carefully selected by the design team and the client and include iconic pieces designed by Frank Lloyd-Wright and John Pawson. The juxtaposition of these luminaires, against the minimal architecture, provide a perfect residential atmosphere.
This vast residence can be compared to a small hotel, which includes a private spa featuring an indoor swimming pool with a unique lighting installation along the steps leading to the edge and underwater too.
